Dinner on the Desert 2013

Dinner on the Desert is an annual fundraiser and event that benefits the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. Tickets start at $500 and proceeds support research, conservation, exhibitions, and many other programs.  The event features different themes every year, and this year's theme was A Garden for all Seasons, which celebrated the Garden's 75th anniversary year.  Sculptures by Philip Hass (The Four Seasons) were placed throughout.
I've been fortunate enough to have been asked to photograph the event for the catering company (Copper Square Kitchen) two years in a row now.  Beautiful night, wonderful event.  Great job Lori and the Copper Square Kitchen/Hyatt staff!

 Over the past few years I've read a ton of photography tip articles and I've had fun trying some of the techniques.  I figured I'd post a blog about some of the great sites I've come across and continue to follow.

 
1. DIY Photography
This is a great resource for DIY Photography tips.  You'll learn a lot and save money at the same time!
 



2. Digital Photography School
A valuable site to learn, discuss, and practice techniques - for photographers of all levels.

 
3. Pop Photo
You don't have to be a subscriber to read these online tips.  Also free online monthly contests!

4. National Geographic Photo Tips
Learn from the Best!  Many different articles and categories of photography.


5. Strobist
This is an awesome blog regarding all aspects of photography lighting


I follow all of these quite a bit and have learned a lot over the years.  Check some of them out for yourself!

A Day at the Museum

My daughter had the day off of school so we decided to go check out the butterfly exhibit at the Museum.  We're members and we live close but we don't go as often as we should.  I'm going to make it a point to go more often because its a really cool place with a wonderful collection.
